Jens Dueppe

Jens Düppe comes from Schwäbisch Gmünd in southern Germany. At an early age he received piano lessons, took up the drums at 10 and studied jazz in Weimar and Amsterdam until 2002. Düppe was a member of the "German Youth Orchestra" (BuJazzO) for many years. In 2001 he received a scholarship to study in New York City. In 2003, Albert Mangelsdorf engaged him for the German-French Jazz Ensemble. Later Düppe worked with him in the Mangelsdorfer-Dauner Quintett. Düppe currently lives in Cologne, playing in numerous bands and teaching in the Bundesjazzorchester. His most important current projects are SHREEFPUNK with German trumpet player Matthias Schriefl, PSQ with the luxemburger vibraphon player Pascal Schumacher and a colaboration with Dimitar Bodurov, a gifted piano player from Bulgaria, combining the elements of Bulgarian folklore and European jazz tradition.
